* Double delight for Youth Matchplay champs *
Portsalon's Youth Matchplay team completed a successful defence of their Donegal county title on Sunday afternoon when they overcame Ballyliffin in Inishowen.
Portsalon went into the second leg in a commanding position after winning all three games on home soil and they sealed their 'two-in-a-row' win in some style on Sunday evening.
The Portsalon team was Michael Campbell & Ciaran McCormick, John Harkin & Liam Donlon and Ultan Blaney & Seanan McAleer.
Along with their counterparts from Ballyliffin, they played some excellent golf across both the home and away legs, a real showcase for junior golf, and the undoubted highlight came when Portsalon's John Harkin fired a hole-in-one on Glashedy's par-three 14th hole to seal victory in his match and the tie overall.
The Portsalon team were once more mentored this year by Club Captain Eamonn McConigley and manager Daragh Lyons and they are pictured in Ballyliffin on Sunday evening with their winners' pennant, while John Harkin picked up a special award from convenor Edward Harvey for his hole-in-one in the final.
