The rub of the green was with Pamela Clinton on a bright and sunny St Patrick’s Day in Portsalon Golf Club. Her 7 pars saw Lady Captain Noreen McConigley pipped at the post by one point this week. One can’t ignore the last 7 holes of Claire McGonigle either, having recorded 4 pars and 3 birdies. While St Patrick may have banished snakes and the occasional birdie, he also took care of the mats as well, as we saw a welcome return to the fairways. There were floats galore all over the country and indeed one or two little white balls got into the spirit of the day at the 2nd. But that’s what retrievers were invented for! Ladies Winter Links Captains Day Thursday 28th March. There is a list of those who qualify for the main prizes, with a minimum 3 card entries, on the notice board in the ladies locker room. All other players, including those who join on the Captain’s Day, will compete for the ‘non qualifying’ prizes. Regardless of qualifying status, the 2’s pot will be divided evenly between anyone who records a 2 on a Par 3. Call the PRO shop 074 – 91 – 59459 to book your tee time or use the BRS system.
