​Portsalon GC is delighted to announce that our Wednesday competitions are now Open to all golf Ireland members from Wednesday 1st November until Spring 2024. The popular midweek open will give visiting golfers from Donegal and further afield a chance to come and play in Portsalon across the next six months. We will also be hosting Open competitions throughout the winter months on assigned days around Christmas, New Year and on Bank Holiday weekends.

The Ladies Christmas will be played on Sunday 26th November. The tee is booked from 11am, with the presentation of prizes and meal afterwards – which can be paid that evening. The hamper entry fee of € 15 is payable by Sunday 19th November and ladies are asked to put their name down on the list in the locker room. The draw will be done on Sunday evening 19th November.

Auto Fast Fit Winter Saturday Series gets underway
This winter Portsalon GC are running a Saturday Series Members competition which began over the weekend and will run every Saturday until 16th March, 2024.
There will be four playing categories. Each week there is one winner in each category. Categories are as follows: Cat A: <6, Cat B: 7-15, Cat C: 16-24, Cat D: 25+.
Your best six cards of the winter will form your total overall score, with one overall winner in each category. The Prize for the overall winner in each category is a 50-inch LG TV.
The cost to enter the Saturday Series is €10 Registration and €10 each Saturday which includes twos. We would like to thank Stephen Harris from Auto Fast Fit, Letterkenny for his continued sponsorship of our Winter Series.

Super Sunday scoring sensations
It might have been bonfire night elsewhere but it was all fireworks on Sunday with a day of spectacular scoring at Portsalon as prize-winners really had to earn their stripes!
Shaun Strain (10) was the overall winner on the day, carding a superb two-over par gross round of 74 to score 44 points and bag top spot.
Right on his tail was Kevin McGonagle (8) with an equally impressive 43 points after a one-over par score of 73 blows. Third spot went the way of Martin O'Reilly (26) on 42 points.
The gross prize on the day was won by Ryan McGettigan (Scr) after he went around in a bogey-free round of five-under for 67, enough for 41 pts.
Ryan's birdies came at the 5th and 8th on the way out and at holes 11, 14 and 17 on the way in for a sublime effort.
Such was the standard of golf on display on Sunday that Johnny Shields' two-under gross score of 70 missed out completely on the prizes! Tough school! Well done to all our prize winners.
