Senior League semi-finals for Portsalon
Ryan McGettigan showed his quality with a hole-in-one on the 15th hole on Sunday in his Senior League tussle with Letterkenny's Cian Harkin. Cian went on to win a high quality encounter on the 17th but there was more drama in store. Wins for Pascal Cullen, on the second extra hole, alongside Sean Hensey and Paul Whorton, countered defeats for Ryan McGettigan and Michael Campbell and left the tie all square and headed for a sudden death playoff. The nominated players were Ryan and Jamie Foley for Letterkenny, and with Ryan in close for birdie and Jamie unable to get up-and-down having gone over the green, it was Portsalon that moved into the semi-finals. Team Captain Johnny Shields will take his side to Murvagh at the end of September for the neutral semi-finals. Congrats to the Portsalon team on a fine win and commiserations to Letterkenny on this occasion.
